Nordea's e-banking services have received global recognition from The Banker, a magazine owned by the Financial Times Group. The magazine motivates its choice with the fact that Nordea's e-banking services are the most widely used in the world with most transactions and a steady growth of e-banking customers.

"We are very pleased that we have received this global award for using information technology to introduce new dimensions in customer service," says Lars G Nordström, President and Group CEO.

"No bank has shown larger payment transaction numbers than Nordea. We are now fast moving into the second phase – solving new customer needs when customers deal with each other electronically," says Bo Harald, Head of Electronic Banking.

By reusing e-banking tools and building on the well-established e-banking habit and trust, Nordea helps customers to establish and expand their electronic services faster, at a lower cost and with higher security.

Today Nordea's e-banking services include e-payments, e-invoicing, e-identification, e-signatures and e-salaries.

The "Best Use of IT in Retail Banking" award will be presented at an awards ceremony at The Dorchester Hotel in London on Tuesday, 7 September.

Nordea in Sweden will be awarded The Banker's Country Award at the same ceremony. The country award is in recognition of how Nordea in Sweden has advanced its market position and for the new services and products introduced to both retail and corporate customers.
